“Search Engine Myths Exposed” Review. Is Jon Crazy?
Another day and yet another internet marketing report making its way around the internet with outrageous claims. Well at least it’s free so I won’t have to go through the trouble of requesting a refund from clickbank or buying it from my own affiliate link. (Don’t front, I know you do that too!)
Search Engine Myths Exposed is a new FREE report by Jonathan Leger who I would rate as a very underrated but extremely competent Online Marketer. He doesn’t get much shine like some of the big name "gurus" …excuse me, I had to control myself from hurling because that term is thrown around so freely that it literally sickens me. But I digress. Jon is a solid guy in my opinion. He’s like the internet marketer’s marketer. So I tend not to delete emails sent by him. Jon is anti-guru and judging by the first pages of his new report Search Engine Myths Exposed, he makes it very clear why!
I’m always skeptical reading these internet marketing reports or even just giving up my email address to get them because we all know we’re going to be marketed to. But I’m more inlined to do so with Jon Leger because I’ve actually seen results from his other programs like 3waylinks which has helped me secure top 20 rankings for several keywords. So I’m more apt to read a report from him because he has proven to me that he understands SEO.
So now that’s out of the way, let’s discuss this report.
Jon basically discusses 7 Myths and tries to debunk or verify each one. He does a good job of trying to provide verifiable proof when possible This is pretty much unheard of for most Gurus who can photoshop a fake earnings check, or get a friend to provide a fake testimonial on their sales page. Shame on you if you’ve done that! So let’s go through each of the myths and see if they ring a bell for you.
Myth #1: Google Knows All and Sees All.
I won’t lie, as much as I understand Google’s algorithms and practice white hat tactics, they do scare the bejesus out of me. I can’t get over that big brother is watching type of feeling. In any event, Jon makes some obvious observations here so it wasn’t an "A Ha!" moment for me. Newbies might find his conclusion comforting and Black Hat Seo Practitioners will probably yawn at this section.
Myth #2: Google Will Not Rank Duplicate Content.
Now this one was long but interesting reading. I was a bit torn about his conclusions. He did ultimately back up his verdict with some solid examples.I can vouch for it because I’ve experienced similar results. So overall I tend to agree with him but with a grain of salt. Interestingly enough, a past stompernet video raised just the opposite view point. Although I am a stomper I still tend to agree with Jon on this myth based on my own SEO experiences.
Myth # 3: You Must Get “Themed Links” To Rank Well.
The concept of theme links basically means that website owners should try to acquire back links from similar industries. In Google’s mind if your website is about smoking bongs then you should get links from other websites that are related to that pharmaceutical drug marijuana, aka Mary Jane, aka weed aka, ciga-weed, aka the icky wicky, etc. You get the picture. The theory is that Google favors that type of back-linking and will rank your site higher.
Well for this myth there is another great example of Jon backing up his conclusion. This one may actually surprise you as it did for me a few months ago. The answer became very clear to me after using 3waylinks.net to get back links from various websites that I would have never thought to explore. After reading the information about this myth you may want to totally revamp or extend your link building strategy.
Myth #4: Your Site Must Focus On One Subject To Rank.
Like many so-called rules I feel Jon’s conclusion is more of an exception to the rule. In my humble opinion this myth really involves a lot of other factors that he didn’t really acknowledge or address. So I’m going to have to respectfully disagree about this one being consistent. You’ll see what I’m talking about in the report.
Myth #5, High PageRank Means Good Rankings.
Nothing new here to any experienced SEO practitioner. Newbies on the other hand should read and prepared to be shocked and floored. All others, Next…
Myth #6:To Maintain Good Rankings, You Must Add New Content.
Jon’s position is a bit controversial. I agree with him to a certain degree but from a web 2.0 philosphy, I don’t think his conclusion should be followed. Whatever your point of view may be, content makes the internet go round. So it’s always something important to focus on despite whether or not it helps you rank or not. If it helps your visitors then produce it and you will be rewarded for it in time. It’s just that simple.
Myth #7: The Biggest Myth: Ranking in Google is Hard.
Again for experienced SEO folks there is nothing new here. He’s basically laid out my successful formula for SEO which I’ve used for many of my sites and those of my clients which all rank well. If you know nothing about SEO or are just getting started, the final part of this report is all you need to know for the most part.
Conclusion:
Is the Search Engine Myths Exposed report worth the price of admission (Free!)? Damn skippy! I think both experienced marketers and newbies alike will get some value out of this report. Although I think it’s more geared towards folks struggling with Search Engine Optimization. Honestly, the last part of the report could’ve been made into its own report and sold as SEO Fast Track! I really do feel that portion was extremely valuable to anyone.
In any event, I definitely recommend reading the report especially because it’s totally free. Jon isn’t trying to beat you over the head with a sales pitch. But like any good viral report there is a small call to action at the end that I personally recommend. I’ve actually been using the service recommended in the report for a few months and the results are real!
If not for anything else read the report for the information and or the fact you can make money giving it away. You win either way.
